  • 1977

    Mark Hamister, founder and CEO of Hamister Group, LLC, started his first senior living company. This company evolved into National Health Care Affiliates, Inc. (NHCA), one of the top 20 long-term care and sub-acute providers in the United States.
  • 1980's

    National Health Care Affiliates, Inc. made the Inc. 500 list five times, earning it a spot in the Inc. Magazine Hall of Fame.
  • 1996

    NHCA had 37 business units in six states and annual sales exceeding $100 million. NHCA exceeded industry standards throughout most of its tenure. It was so highly recognized that other companies engaged NHCA to manage their facilities.
  • 1996

    NHCA's Research Group had predicted that market factors would cause long-term-care and home-care companies to make a choice between quality and profitability. Since NHCA was unwilling to sacrifice either one, company leaders decided that it was time to sell. In 1996, a larger company purchased the majority of NHCA's business units for $134 million. NHCA's customers and employees had the opportunity to continue their relationships with a reputable organization. Shareholders attained an internal rate of annual return on their investment exceeding 37%.
  • 1997

    Hamister and other shareholders purchased Health Services of Northern New York, Inc. (HSNNY), a home health care agency in St. Lawrence County, NY. HSNNY is a separate corporate entity managed by Hamister Group, LLC. At the time of purchase, the annual sales were under $5 million; by 2012, sales exceeded 7.4 million.
  • 1997

    Hamister purchased the Buffalo Destroyers, an arena football team. The team was sold in 2004.
  • 1999

    Hamister formed Premier Self Storage, Inc., a self-storage company that offered improved security, high cleanliness standards, and convenient refuse disposal.
  • 2002

    The MedLink Group, Inc., another part of NHCA's operations, sold its home-health and supplemental staffing offices. After the MedLink sale, HSNNY and three Western New York assisted living residences (Brompton Heights, Orchard Heights, and Heather Heights) were the only health care businesses that remained in Hamister's portfolio.
  • 2002

    Hamister Group, LLC, a management company that provides services by contract to a host of independent companies, was formed. All companies managed by Hamister Group, LLC operate with full individual corporate integrity.
  • 2004

    Mark Hamister founded The Hamister Hospitality Group, LLC in 2004; the primary objective of this organization being hotel acquisition.
  • 2004

    Acquisition of Smyrna Nashville Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott and Smyrna Nashville Sleep Inn & Suites.
  • 2005

    Hamister sold Premier Self Storage to Public Storage, Inc. (a publicly traded REIT) for more than $17 million (37% to 41% IRR to investors). This is the second time that Hamister delivered exit returns that exceeded 35% per annum.

    Acquisition of Knoxville Airport MainStay Suites, Louisville Sleep Inn & Suites and Lebanon Nashville Sleep Inn & Suites.
  • 2006

    Acquisition of Pittsburgh Cranberry Township Residence Inn, Pittsburgh Cranberry Township Hampton Inn, Pittsburgh Airport Hampton Inn, Pittsburgh Greentree Hampton Inn, and Pittsburgh Cranberry Township Holiday Inn Express.
  • 2012

    Acquisition of the Holiday Inn Southaven in Southaven, Mississippi an immediate suburb of Memphis, TN.
  • 2012

    Purchase of the Tishman Building at 10 Lafayette Square in Downtown Buffalo, NY to become a mixed-use property including a Hilton Garden Inn, 18 market-rate apartments and the new home of Hamister Group, LLC Corporate Office.
  • 2013

    In 2013, Hamister Group, LLC sold four of its highly profitable hotel operations in the Pittsburgh, PA market. This extremely successful transaction of three Hampton Inns and a Residence Inn delivered an impressive internal rate of return of 30%.
  • 2014

    Hamister Group, LLC launches a new corporate identity. Created a new corporate brand with new colors and a new logo to match the modern and sleek new corporate location in downtown Buffalo, NY.
  • 2014

    Construction was completed on the Company’s flagship 10 Lafayette building in downtown Buffalo, NY. The mixed-use property features a 124-room, full-service Hilton Garden Inn hotel. The building also includes 3 floors of luxury apartments, as well as the Company's corporate office.
  • 2015

    Hamister Group, LLC, through an affiliate, acquired Forest Hill Heights in Maryland, a 92-unit assisted living facility formerly known as Rock Spring Village Assisted Living Community.
  • 2016

    Started construction on Hyatt Place Niagara Falls, the largest non-casino development in Niagara Falls' history.
  • 2016

    Started construction to expand Orchard Heights, Inc. to add 32 additional independent living units and 30 additional assisted living units.
  • 2016

    Acquired a three-property, 314-hotel room portfolio in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. The portfolio of Marriott and Hilton-branded hotels is located in the Northeast portion of the state at the intersection of I-80 and I-81. It includes a Residence Inn (92 rooms), a Hampton Inn (122 rooms), and a Fairfield Inn & Suites (100 rooms).
  • 2016

    Acquired a former La Quinta Inn & Suites in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and converted it into a seven-story assisted living facility known as Northland Heights, LLC.
  • 2016

    Acquired a three-property, 314-hotel room portfolio in Indiana. The portfolio of Marriott and Hilton-branded hotels includes a Courtyard by Marriott (119 rooms), a Hilton Garden Inn (112 rooms), and a Residence Inn (83 rooms).
  • 2017

    Hamister Group, LLC continues to look for attractive purchase, construction, and management opportunities. The group plans to grow its portfolio each year.
