Hamister Group, LLC is proud to celebrate its 40th year in operation, continuing as a nationally recognized hotel and healthcare management company, with a mission rooted in delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Anniversary Symposium
In a time when some management companies focus on quantity over quality, Hamister Group has achieved over 40 years of innovation, consistent customer satisfaction scores, and steady growth. We commemorated our four decade anniversary in June, 2017 with several celebrations and a symposium.
The symposium took place May 31 – June 2, with an invitation-only dinner celebration for corporate employees, field managers, investors and honored guests on the June 1st anniversary. It included numerous activities for corporate staff, field managers and shareholders, focused on growing the company and delivering exceptional customer experiences. Each of our businesses held their own individual celebrations throughout June to honor our dedicated co-workers in the field, at the corporate office, and the communities we serve.
"40 years of service marks a unique achievement for our organization. This is an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the values that have contributed to our success, the people that made it possible, and the contributions we and our employees have made to our local communities."
CEO and Chairman Mark E. Hamister
Our History
The company was started in 1977 after Mark Hamister purchased an assisted living facility in LeRoy, New York. That first business evolved into National Health Care Affiliates, Inc., which grew to become one of the largest healthcare companies in the United States. The company made the Inc. 500 list five times during the 1980s, earning a spot in the Inc. Magazine Hall of Fame. In 1996, most National Health Care Affiliates business units were sold while maintaining its home health and assisted living assets. The company was also active for six years in the professional sports sector, with the purchase and operation of the Buffalo Destroyers and Rochester Brigade in the Arena Football League and in the self-storage sector through its affiliate Premier Self Storage, Inc., until its sale to Public Storage in 2005.
Company Growth - Past, Present & Future
The hospitality model used at Hamister Group's assisted living facilities was so successful it allowed for a seamless transition into hotel management in the early 2000's, as it acquired its first five hotels between 2004 and 2005.
In the last year, Hamister Group's portfolio has increased with the acquisition of three operating hotels in Pennsylvania, three operating hotels in Indiana, and a non-operating hotel in Pittsburgh that will be converted into an assisted living facility. Currently, the portfolio includes management of 10 hotels, and two hotels currently under construction, totaling more than 1,390 rooms; four senior housing communities with 636 licensed beds and independent apartments for seniors, and another 120 units under construction; and a home healthcare agency.
The company has over 900 employees who work tirelessly to deliver an exceptional customer experience in the spirt of the company's values and strategic goals.
